Give an Animal a Loving Home

Our goal is to match every animal with a forever home where they will be safe, loved, and well-cared for. By adopting from us, you not only give an animal a second chance but also increase our capacity to assist more animals in need.
We take great care to ensure that each adoption is the right fit for both the pet and the adopter. Our adoption process is designed to ensure that every animal goes to a responsible and loving home.

The Adoption Process

  1. Meet the Animal
Visit our SPCA to meet the animals currently available for adoption. You can view them on our Dogs for Adoption and Cats for Adoption Facebook albums.
  2. Complete the Application Form
Once you’ve found a pet you connect with, you’ll need to complete an application form at our SPCA.
  3. Provide Necessary Documents
Please bring a copy of your ID and proof of address. If you live in a complex, estate, or rented home, you’ll also need to provide a pet-friendly approval letter from the body corporate or your landlord.
  4. Socialisation
If you have other pets at home, it’s important to introduce them to the animal you’re considering adopting. This helps ensure compatibility between your existing pets and your new companion. Adopters with small children may also be required to conduct a socialisation session with the animal/s.
  5. Home Inspection
An official from the SPCA will visit your property to ensure it is suitable for the animal. This includes checking that the home is safe, secure, and has adequate shelter, food, and water access for the pet.
  6. Getting Ready
Once your home inspection is approved, your new pet will be sterilised, vaccinated, micro-chipped and dewormed.
  7. Collection
When your pet is ready, we will contact you to collect your new family member and take them home!

Responsible Pet Ownership

Adopting an animal is a lifelong commitment. We urge all potential adopters to carefully consider the financial, emotional, and time commitments involved in pet ownership. You will be responsible for your new pet’s food, health care, socialisation, and overall well-being.
Our inspectors and staff are available to assist with any questions you may have during the process, ensuring that you are fully prepared to provide a loving and stable home.

For more information about adopting a pet, please contact us or visit our SPCA to meet the animals in person. Thank you for choosing adoption and helping us give these animals the chance they deserve.
