Inspectorate
Protecting Animals, Enforcing the Law
Our dedicated Inspectorate team is at the frontline of the fight against animal cruelty. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, our inspectors respond to reports of cruelty, neglect, and animals in distress. Whether dealing with domestic pets, farm animals, or wildlife, every case is thoroughly investigated, ensuring that no animal suffers in silence.
Our inspectors are highly trained to handle even the most challenging and dangerous situations. From rescuing animals trapped in drains or between fences to investigating and prosecuting cases of cruelty, they act with compassion and professionalism. In addition to reactive rescues, they proactively conduct inspections at facilities like pet shops, abattoirs, security companies, and other facilities where animals are utilised.
Upholding the Law
The Germiston Bedfordview SPCA Inspectorate is empowered by the Animals Protection Act (APA) No. 71 of 1962 to instigate legal action against those who abuse or neglect animals. If found guilty, perpetrators can face severe penalties, including fines or imprisonment. We work closely with authorities to ensure that animal welfare is upheld and those responsible for cruelty are held accountable.
If you witness animal cruelty or suspect an animal is in distress, contact our 24-hour Inspectorate service immediately. Together, we can stop cruelty and ensure that all animals are treated with the respect and care they deserve.
